  • Why do you want a website?
  • What are your needs from the website?
  • What are you offering?

  • Who or what kinds of people will this work for?
  • What look, feel and structure will work best?

WP Beginner  http://www.wpbeginner.com/

This has an excellent set of videos which tell you all of the basics for creating a website using WordPress.  You will need to register with them to be able to use them, but its free 🙂

They also have a set of videos on YouTube which cover common tasks and problems, a bit more advanced than the basics and really useful:

Click the following link for the wordpress website training handout that Kooj Chuhan used in 2014, during the Nana Bonsu project:

WP training handout 1

This might still be useful, but because WordPress continually changes some ways in which it works there will be odd bits that are now out of date.  Maybe go with the WP Beginner videos first and use this handout for reference back up.

Preparation for Web-Design Training 2015 – PAC45 Young Roots Project by First Cut Media & Performing Arts

USING THE INTERNET TO COMMUNICATE OUR QUESTIONS, EXPERIENCES AND THOUGHTS

The Pan African Congress of 1945 took place in Manchester, and it was a critical time for African history.

What does it mean for the situation right now for all people of African descent in Manchester and the world?

What does it mean for the liberation of all people who have been colonised?

Are these questions and connections too difficult to understand?

Can we share what we are grappling with through the internet and generate greater interest?

PLEASE CHOOSE ONE THING THAT YOU FOUND PARTICULARLY INTERESTING OR GOT YOU THINKING.

Take photographs. Then write down your thoughts about this – in the style of how you might talk.

  • What got you thinking, or caught your attention?

  • What questions does it make you ask?

  • Ask a friend what they think about your questions, what do they say?

  • How does it have any relevance to your life today? Check with others what they think as well, and write it down.

Keep a hold on to all of this writing that you do along with any photos you take.  We will use them when we do the website and social media design, editing and publishing sessions.
